Founded in 1940 by Gladys Bownes, Barnwell’s staff strives to continue Gladys’ vision of excellent nursing care coupled with the notion that a stay in a nursing home, for either long term care or short term rehabilitation, should be an experience filled with caring and respect for the dignity of the individual.

Shore View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is proud to provide outstanding progressive short-term rehabilitation and compassionate long-term care. Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nurse’s Aides are scheduled 24 hours a day, providing superior skilled nursing care around the clock for all of our patients.
Our talented and outstanding skilled nursing staff coordinates the individualized care plans for each patient and focuses on enabling individuals to acquire or relearn skills they need to return home as quickly and independently as possible. Hospice / Palliative Care
Hospice care provided by a dedicated and compassionate team can make a meaningful difference for those facing end of life, and for their loved ones. At Barnwell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, we coordinate care and services with experienced hospice organizations to provide the highest quality hospice care to residents. Skilled and sensitive hospice professionals assist residents with physical pain management and address the emotional and spiritual needs of both the resident and family.
As a collaborative team, both Barnwell and hospice staff develop an individualized plan of care, focusing on the holistic needs of the resident, with comfort being a main objective. We encourage family members to attend frequently scheduled meetings.
